The term all terrain vehicle or more commonly known as ATV is used by small open motorized tricycles or trykes and quads designed for off the road use. But the American National Standards Institute or the ANSI defines an ATV as a vehicle that can travel on a low pressure tires with a seat and handle bars for control. Different countries specify them in a range of ways.
Initially used for agricultural purposed, especially in more remote areas in rounding up sheep and cattle, ATV's are now gaining great popularity also as a fun recreational vehicle. This of course has broadened out into sporting events with professional ATV riders supported by ATV sponsorship.
Also starting to make an appearance are road legal ATV's. We would expect this to be a significant growth area in the years ahead.
Another growth area is junior ATV's, where parents, looking for quality recreation get them for their kids and have a great time out on the beach, in the woods, or on safety controlled specialist tracks and courses.
There are a range of vehicle manufacturers being added to the list of ATV manufacturers. Always popular are Honda, Yamaha, Kawazaki and Suzuki. But there are also ATV manufacturers that focus soley on ATV production. Find out more about ATV's on the link below:
