The newest and the perhaps the greatest technological break through is Bluetooth. What exactly is Bluetooth? It is an industrial specification for wireless PAN’s. The Bluetooth allows a way to connect and to change information between instruments such as mobile phones, laptops and personal computers, printers, digital cameras and even video game consoles like PlayStation 3. They can transmit via a secure but world wide unlicensed short range radio frequency.
The standard and communications Bluetooth specification are designed for low power conservation and a short range, it could be 1, 10 or 100 meters. It is all based on low cost transceiver microchips that are located in each device. These devices can only communicate when they are in a close proximity of each other. They don’t have to be in the same room as each other but they do have to be in the same vicinity. Like any other system, Bluetooth devices must be Bluetooth compatible in order for them to work.
Here are some applications in which Bluetooth can be used. If the wireless control of the transmission of a cell phone and a hands free headset. The transfer of files that travel between devices through a system called OBEX. Very little bandwidth is required when networking between personal computer in a small confined space. It can work when the wireless communications with a personal computer that has an input and output with the most common devices being a mouse, keyboard and printer.
